Dick Bivins Stadium is the home stadium of the Amarillo Independent School District.
A clear bag policy is in effect for Dick Bivins Stadium (PDF opens in new window). Amarillo ISD continually reviews its safety and security policies across the district looking for ways to improve. This proactive measure will enhance safety inside and outside the stadium, and speed the security screening process for all fans.
The clear bag policy is only in effect at Dick Bivins Stadium; however, fans should be aware of specific policies regarding prohibited items at ALL Amarillo ISD athletic facilities. Lastly, please help us in communicating this policy with stakeholders and fans.
The stadium opened in 1950 and has a seating capacity of 15,000. Terraced-seating aluminum bleachers in 41 rows on both the east and west grandstands look down on a playing field that is below ground level. The west grand stand situated immediately below the press box is the designated home side. On June 1, 1998, the Amarillo Independent School District installed first-generation FieldTurf, replacing the original 48-year old natural grass playing surface. This was the first FieldTurf installation in any American football venue in the world. New sixth-generation FieldTurf was installed on the field during the fall of 2008.
In 2005, the stadium underwent a multi-million dollar renovation which included a new state-of-the-art multi-level press box pre-wired for wireless (Wi-Fi) broadband internet access, closed-circuit/satellite television, a sideline to press box wireless (Wi-Fi) intercom system, hi-fidelity "crowd ambient sound" wide-range audio microphones and a multi-angle, panoramic exterior-mounted high definition video camera array. Additional press box features included modern work spaces for print journalists, sound-proof radio broadcasting booths for home and visitor radio stations, television broadcasters, public address announcers, scouts, administration, home and visiting coaches. Video operators record the games via a covered outdoor deck. Further improvements included two VIP suites with private restrooms, food preparation catering facilities, two pantry kitchens, new home and visitor locker rooms with shower facilities, coach offices/locker rooms and a fully-featured medical clinic. The south end zone features a new corporate-sponsored and cutting-edge electronic scoreboard featuring hi-fidelity multi-speaker surround sound audio and a high-definition large-format video display interfacing an in-house close-circuit television production studio capable of instant replay. Additional renovations included new public restrooms, new concession stands, new gated security parking for media and team vehicles, new handicap-accessible ramps, new elevator towers and additional handicap spectator seating making this public sports venue fully compatible with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
The Amarillo Relays event is held each year at Dick Bivins Stadium. Track and field teams from across Texas travel to this event, which is considered one of the premier track meets in the state.
Dick Bivins Stadium is also the home field for all four AISD varsity soccer teams.

The Texas Panhandle Sports Network has been your High School broadcast network since 2001.
Due to the quality and availability of our surrounding radio stations, we are streaming many of our broadcasts over the Internet. Digital streaming will bring a much clearer and stronger broadcast than we can get from just about any radio station. We feel streaming is definitely a step forward. Fans here can pass it on to people that would want to listen to the broadcasts. There is a change taking place in the area of broadcasting events that will make itself more accessible while bringing a higher quality of audio broadcast.
We believe that by streaming our games, this will give us the opportunity to bring a better sounding broadcast to our fans and increase dramatically the number of fans who can enjoy high school sports.
